Coming Soon: more remote nonprofit work

The COVID-19 situation has forced almost every organization to allow their employees to work from home. I’m sure you’ve encountered the influx of “tips and tricks” articles across social media about how to work successfully in this new normal!

This mandatory, unexpected change to how we work has been extremely interesting to observe, specifically in the nonprofit sector. Nonprofits just do things differently. Many nonprofit clients and colleagues of Mission Advantage have been obliged to deploy a remote workforce for the first time in their long and storied histories. While they would not have chosen this situation on their own, the mandatory transition might spark a change in thought for remote flexibility in the future.

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey shared recently that the company will allow almost everyone to work from home permanently. Others in the private sector will inevitably that others will follow suit.  On top of that, three-quarters of millennials say they would take a pay cut to work for a company that offered flexible hours. And, Deloitte recently found that millennials are much likelier to stay in a role for more than five years if their company is flexible about where and when they work.

How will the nonprofit sector respond going forward?
